COMPOST WATERBURY

Turn your food scraps into soil.

Compost Waterbury is working to bring weekly food scrap pick-up to the Brass City.

WHY COMPOST

Keep food scraps out of landfills

We're bringing food scrap pick-up to Waterbury. $22 per month for weekly pick-ups, and 6 soil "getbacks" a year.

Weekly curbside pickup

Our partner (Blue Earth Compost) collects your food scraps every week from your home in Waterbury. No hauling, no extra trips.

Reduces landfill waste

Food scraps in landfills create methane. Composting breaks them down naturally, cutting emissions and waste.

Builds community

Join neighbors across Waterbury working toward the same goal. We need 50 families to extend pick-up service to the Brass City.

Easy and affordable

Put food scraps in your bin. Leave it out on pick-up day. All for $22 per month.

Got questions?

Everything you need to know

Answers to all your questions.

How does it work?

You'll receive a pail with compostable bags. You fill the pail with food scraps. Once pick-up day arrives, you leave the pail outside — where Blue Earth takes its contents for processing.

Who's Blue Earth Compost?

They're a certified B Corp based in Southington, CT that does residential and commercial composting. They service multiple areas in CT already, but haven't had sufficient interest in Waterbury to date in order to add it to their service map.

How much does it cost?

$22 per month once service begins, but no cost to join the waitlist.

What about the dirt?

6 times a year, Blue Earth will provide "soil getbacks" — where you receive a delivery of dirt enriched by the compost derived from scraps like yours.

Why is it a "waitlist"?

Blue Earth Compost doesn't serve Waterbury yet. They need 50 families to enlist before they're able to add it to their service map. When you sign up, you'll get notified first once we hit our goal. No payment required to join the waitlist.

What happens once enough people sign up?

We'll take your information and pass it to Blue Earth. They will coordinate logistics — collecting your info, providing a compost pail, scheduling pick-up, and processing payment.
